Creamy Dahi Bhalla (Chana & Mash Dal)
Ingredients
1 cup chana dal, 1 cup mash dal (soaked 4-5 hrs)
1 tsp salt, ½ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chopped onion, 1-2 green chilies (chopped)
Oil (for frying)
4 cups yogurt, ½ cup cream, 1 tbsp sugar/ jaggery, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp chaat masala.
Tamarind chutney, green chutney, chaat masala.
Directions
- Grind soaked dals with minimal water to a smooth paste. Mix with salt, cumin, and baking soda.
- Whisk yogurt with cream, onion,green chillies,salt, chat masala,cumin powder and sugar/jaggery.
- Whisk batter for 4-5 mins, then deep-fry small portions in medium-hot oil until golden.
- Soak bhallas in chilled water for 15-20 mins, then squeeze out excess water.
- Assemble: Place bhallas in a dish,pour yogurt over them, and garnish with tamarind chutney and chaat masala.
- Chill & serve! Enjoy your soft, creamy dahi bhallas. 😊
