Ingredients

  • For Dal Kebab:
  • 2 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram), soaked for 2 hour

  • 2 medium onions, sliced

  • 5-6 garlic cloves

  • 1-inch ginger piece

  • 8-10 green chilies, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 500ml water

  • 2 egg (for binding)

  • Thinly sliced cabbage and onion for dressing

  • Oil for frying

  • Ketchup

  • Glazed Burger Buns

  • Butter

  • For Green Chutney:
  • 1 stack mint leaves

  • 1 stack fresh coriander

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • 6 fresh green chillies

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ black pepper powder

  • 1 teaspoon Cumin whole

  • ½ anardana powder

Directions

  • Prepare the Shami Kebab:
    In a pressure cooker add soaked chana dal, onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, cumin, coriander powder, black pepper, red chili powder, chili flakes, green chillies, salt, and water.
    Pressure cook for about 10 to 15 minutes.
    Cook until the mixture becomes well cooked and turns into a coarse paste.
  • Prepare Green Chutney:
    In a blender add all the ingredients and blend well.
  • Prepare the Fried Egg:
    Heat oil in a pan and add beaten eggs spiced with salt, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Assemble the Burger:
    Toast the burger buns with a little butter.
    In the prepared egg add a spoon of prepared dal mixture and shape it to a shami kebab.
    Place green chutney, cabbage and onion on the crown side of the bun.
    Spread some ketchup and add dal kebab.
    Cover with the top bun and gently press.
  • Serve:
    Serve the Anda Shami Burger hot with fries, both sweet and mint chutneys and a chilled drink. Enjoy!
