Spicy Chicken Karahi Recipe
Ingredients
1kg chicken (bone-in, cut into pieces)
4 large tomatoes (chopped)
8-10 green chilies (chopped)
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon red chili flakes
½ teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
Few seeds of kalonji
120ml cooking oil
1 tsp kasuri methi dried
Fresh coriander leaves (chopped, for garnish)
Directions
- Heat oil in a karahi (wok) over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook on high heat, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and add salt.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute until aromatic.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, kalonji and cook for 1 minute. Add chopped tomatoes, mix well and cook until the tomatoes soften.
- Add cumin, coriander and red chili flakes then add yogurt, mix well, and cook uncovered for 10-15 minutes until the oil separates from the gravy. Stir occasionally.
- Sprinkle black pepper and kasuri methi , mix, and let it cook for another 2 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh green chillies and coriander.
- Serve hot with naan or roti.
